Dr Berkowitz graduated from the Medical School of the University of Cape Town in 1968. After completing his general surgical training he entered the Plastic Surgery Department in 1973 and then completed his registrarship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in April 1977. He was the the first person in South Africa to write and pass the Fellowship of the College of Surgeons of South Africa with Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (1977).
In 1978 he entered private practice in Johannesburg where he continues to practice at the Sandton Surgical Centre in Morningside.
He engages in the full spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgical practice including the management of skin cancers and trauma, hand injuries and breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Dr Berkowitz concentrates largely on aesthetic surgery, including facial rejuvenation surgery, breast surgery, abdominal aesthetic surgery, liposuction and laser surgery. |
